Description
Lilium Asiatic Yellow is the embodiment of summer cheer, with golden-yellow, upward-facing flowers that light up the garden from early June through July. Reaching around 80–100 cm in height, it provides vertical rhythm and rhythmical colour to beds, borders, and mixed perennial schemes. These lilies are compact and wind-resistant, making them a solid choice for exposed or coastal Irish gardens, particularly in the west and along the Wild Atlantic Way.
This variety thrives in rich, free-draining soils and is best placed where it receives at least half a day of direct sunlight. It’s ideal for use in municipal plantings, estate borders, rural cut flower plots, and even biodiverse meadow-style schemes where structure is desired. Try pairing with Allium caeruleum, or even Allium Mount Everest for a complementary and seasonal planting design.
Although it lacks fragrance, Lilium Asiatic Yellow’s vibrant colouring and open flower form attract some pollinator interest, particularly bumblebees on warm days. It’s an excellent performer in container gardens and can be lifted for winter storage or left in situ in well-drained soils. When planting in bulk, stagger the bulbs at different depths for a more naturalistic effect and extended blooming sequence.
