Description
Leucojum aestivum Gravetye Giant is a vigorous selection of the Summer Snowflake, producing larger blooms on taller stems — often exceeding 60 cm in height. This variety is especially suited to landscape-scale planting where strong vertical form and naturalising ability are needed in moist or shaded environments.
Flowering from mid to late spring, it performs reliably in Irish conditions and thrives in wet grassland, woodland clearings, and alongside streams or ditches. It spreads gently via offsets, creating naturalised clumps over time.
Landscapers favour Gravetye Giant for low-input, high-impact spring displays on heavy soils.
For maximum visual impact, plant in groups of 15+ bulbs per square metre. Pairs beautifully with ferns, hostas, or camassia in semi-shaded schemes.
