Iris reticulata Pixie

Iris reticulata Pixie

Iris reticulata Pixie adds deep blue tones to Irish spring gardens. Early blooming and great for pollinators in containers and alpine schemes.

Description

Pixie is a vivid and bold cultivar of Iris reticulata, offering intense deep violet-blue petals with darker veining and a golden signal patch. A compact gem growing to just 10–12 cm, it’s superb for low-maintenance alpine gardens, raised troughs, or densely planted containers. In Irish conditions, it excels when planted in sun-drenched beds with free-draining soil.

For enhanced impact, group with lighter companions like Iris Frozen Planet or yellow Crocus chrysanthus. Excellent for naturalising in gravel or scree gardens. As a very early bloomer, it’s among the first available nectar sources for bees. Especially valuable in milder coastal areas of Ireland.
