Description
Hyacinth Jan Bos is one of the most vivid and eye-catching hyacinths available. Its intense carmine-red flowers cluster densely on upright stems and emit a rich, classic hyacinth scent. This bold variety adds vibrant energy to structured displays, public spring beds, and container plantings around schools, hotels, and entrances. It grows to 20–25 cm, blending beautifully with cool-toned contrasts like Scilla siberica, or as a punchy complement to Hyacinth City of Haarlem.
A solid choice for municipal displays, formal spring layouts, and pollinator-friendly urban planting (though not a major nectar provider). The dramatic colour also works well in front-of-border massing and compact coastal gardens.
Thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and has excellent cold resistance for Irish conditions.
