Description
Fritillaria meleagris Mix contains a blend of chequered purple, mauve, and white flowers, which is the hallmark of traditional meadow planting in Ireland and the UK. Known as the Snakeshead Fritillary, this native wildflower is revered for its distinctive drooping heads and textured patterns. Flowering in April, the mix provides a soft, romantic quality that enhances grassland, orchard, or damp border schemes.
This bulb prefers moisture-retentive soils, making it particularly useful in wet-prone areas or floodplains. It’s an ideal companion to Camassia cusickii, or Leucojum vernum, and works well in biodiversity-rich public landscapes, private estates, or low-maintenance garden sections.
The mix ensures variation in flower colour and form, helping naturalised plantings appear spontaneous and diverse.
