Description
Impressive Fritillaria imp. Aurora, aka “Crown Imperial”, boasts bright golden-orange, hanging, bell-shaped flowers. This variety is shorter than most crown imperials. The strong smell from the bulbs keeps mice and moles at bay. It is advisable to plant the bulb in a sunny area at a slight angle when planting to prevent water from accumulating in the bulb. It is not a true “naturalist”. If you want to keep the bulbs, harvest them as soon as possible after the leaves have died and keep them in a dry place above 20 degrees until replanting in October. Looks great at the back of a mixed bulb planting or combines nicely with other bulbs in a pot on a patio or balcony.
