Description
Dahlia Rocco is used when the planting needs confident red colour through the late season. The blooms sit in intense purple to deep crimson shades, giving a strong, classic look that holds its presence in mixed borders and public facing beds. Deep purples and reds are particularly effective in Irish gardens where it provides definition and stops late summer planting looking faded. It works as a feature plant in a sunny border or a large container, and cuts well for bold bouquets. Regular cutting or deadheading keeps blooms coming into autumn. It pairs well with white flowering companions, silver foliage and pale grasses for contrast, or with oranges and bronzes for a warmer autumn palette. Many of the fuller dahlias provide limited access compared with singles. Plant nectar rich, open flowered companions nearby to support pollinators. Best planted in fertile, free-draining soil with good sun exposure, it also benefits from shelter from strong Atlantic winds. This cultivar pairs effectively with long-flowering perennials, ornamental grasses and pollinator-friendly companions, making it a versatile choice for herbaceous borders and naturalistic planting designs.
