Description
The compact, cactus border Dahlia Playa Blanca is a rewarding summer bloomer with spikey double white flowers with yellow centres. White stays readable in low light and dull weather, which makes it valuable in Irish conditions, and it links colour areas in large borders. They are beautiful to sow together or to integrate with other perennials or dahlias in sunny borders, gardens or containers. It is excellent near patios and entrances and performs strongly in large containers. It cuts well for bright bouquets and event style arrangements, and regular deadheading encourages repeat flowering into autumn. Pollinator access may be limited, so pair with nectar rich companions to improve overall biodiversity value. This clump forming dahlia will produce a number of blooms. Plant after frost risk in full sun and fertile, free draining soil improved with compost. Keep moisture steady, stake if exposed, feed from bud stage and deadhead regularly. Lift tubers after the first frosts.
