Dahlia Golden Scepter is used to lift planting schemes with clear yellow colour that stays readable in variable Irish weather. Yellow is one of the most effective late season colours in mixed borders, keeping beds looking fresh through August and September and carrying well into autumn with regular deadheading.  It is a strong border plant and a reliable large pot variety, giving a long run of flowers with straightforward care. It cuts well for bright summer arrangements, and regular picking encourages continued blooming. Pompon dahlias are not overly pollinator friendly. For best biodiversity outcomes, combine with nectar rich, open flowered companions nearby. Plant after frost risk has passed in full sun and free draining soil improved with compost. Keep moisture steady, feed from bud stage onwards, stake if exposed, and deadhead regularly. Lift tubers after the first frosts for frost free storage.
