Description
Dahlia G. F. Hemerick is a mignon style dahlia with narrow petals in soft peach, apricot and honey tones — a warm, glowing colour that matches beautifully with prairie-style and naturalistic planting trends. The spiky texture brings movement and energy, making it superb for modern perennial schemes, late-season meadows, hotel borders, large estate gardens, prairie grass mixes and contemporary landscape beds. Its a reliable flowerer from late July to frost, producing long, elegant stems ideal for cutting. Fragrance is light and subtle, most noticeable in indoor arrangements rather than outdoors. Biodiversity benefit is higher than many decorative dahlias — semi-cactus forms allow better pollinator access, attracting hoverflies, bumblebees and autumn foraging insects when not overly double. Plant in full sun with free-draining but moisture-retentive humus-rich soil. Responds strongly to mulching, fortnightly feeds and early staking. Makes standout combinations with Achillea Terracotta, Rudbeckia, Kniphofia, Crocosmia, Miscanthus and bronze foliage plants. An excellent choice for colour-layered autumn borders, sustainable planting with extended seasonal interest, and Irish landscapes needing warm tone continuity into late season.
