Dahlia G.F.Hemerik I

Dahlia G.F.Hemerik I

Coppery-orange mignon dahlia with strong stems for cutting. Textured blooms, long season colour and superb border presence.  Lovely in borders, pots and wildlife friendly planting areas.

Description

Dahlia G F Hemerik is a mignon style dahlia chosen for steady colour, compact usefulness and genuine pollinator value. Unlike many fully double dahlias, it has single petals and an open centre, which makes pollen and nectar easier for bees and other pollinators to access. That makes it a better fit for wildlife friendly schemes in Irish gardens, public planting and biodiversity conscious landscape work. The flower colour is a warm coppery orange, commonly showing an open yellow centre that adds brightness and helps the blooms read clearly in mixed planting. This tone works well in late summer borders, pairing naturally with grasses, rudbeckia, echinacea and salvias, and it can be used in repeated drifts for large areas where warm colour needs to carry through August and September. G F Hemerik is useful in mass planting and container programmes where you want manageable plants, continuous flowering and a clear biodiversity story. Plant after frost risk has passed in full sun and free draining soil improved with compost. Keep moisture steady, feed from bud stage onwards, and deadhead regularly to maintain continuous flowering. Lift and store tubers frost free after the first frosts for replanting next season.
