Description
Dahlia Aiyana is well suited to Irish conditions when planted once soils have warmed. Like all dahlias, it thrives in sun and rewards routine care with a long run of blooms from mid-summer until frost.
Plant tubers after the last frosts, in full sun, into fertile soil that drains well. Improve heavier soils with organic matter and grit to reduce the risk of rot. Water to establish, then maintain even moisture—particularly during dry spells and for container-grown plants.
For best results, pinch early growth tips, deadhead regularly, and feed from bud stage onward. Support may be needed in windy sites. Dahlias also have strong biodiversity value in summer and early autumn, providing nectar and pollen when many borders start to fade.
Overwintering: lift and store tubers frost-free once foliage is knocked back by frost.
