Crocus species Rosalind (sp. etruscus)

Crocus species Rosalind (sp. etruscus)

Rare soft-pink crocus with silvery-mauve outer petals. Delicate and compact. Ideal for alpine planting, rockeries, and bulb collections.

Description

Crocus Rosalind (species etruscus) is a botanical rarity offering soft pink to mauve flowers with a faint silvery sheen and dark veining on the outer petals. Blooming in February, it’s a refined addition to alpine gardens, troughs, or collectors’ bulb borders, where subtlety and early colour are valued.

Native to the Apennines but well-suited to Ireland’s cool maritime spring, ‘Rosalind’ thrives in sharply drained soils with full sun exposure. It benefits from gravel mulches or a raised aspect to prevent rot. Pair with other delicately coloured species like Crocus sieberi Firefly, Scilla bifolia Rosea, or Iris reticulata for a sophisticated, early-season palette.
