Description
Canna Red Beauty is made for customers who want strong, warm colour and a tropical feel that lasts through the height of summer. Cannas bring two benefits at once: bold flowers and broad leaves that create structure even before the first blooms appear. This makes them ideal for summer displays in sunny, sheltered gardens, hotel style planters and high visibility borders.
The flowers are produced on upright stems above the foliage, and with regular tidying they keep coming for weeks. The foliage gives a dense, luxurious backdrop that pairs well with dahlias, gladiolus, salvias, crocosmia, rudbeckia and ornamental grasses. For container planting, recommend a large pot, rich compost and consistent watering to avoid stress and reduced flowering.
Plant after the last frosts in full sun. Use fertile soil and add compost for moisture balance and feeding. Cannas respond well to liquid feed during summer, and they dislike drying out for long periods. In autumn, lift and store rhizomes frost free. For Irish conditions, that storage advice should be prominent to protect customer success.
