Description
Canna Panache Black is a premium looking canna that sells on foliage as much as flower. Dark leaves give instant contrast in planting schemes, making surrounding colours look brighter and more intentional. It is an excellent choice for customers who want a modern, high impact summer display that feels exotic without being difficult to grow.
Cannas bring layered structure, with broad leaves that read like architectural panels in the border. They look especially good beside bright dahlias, salvias, crocosmia, echinacea, ornamental grasses and citrus toned annuals. In large containers, they make a strong centrepiece plant and can be underplanted with trailing or bedding lines for a full retail style finish.
Plant after frosts in full sun, into fertile soil improved with compost. Cannas like steady moisture during active growth but should not sit in stagnant water. Feed regularly in summer for best flowering and leaf colour. In autumn, lift rhizomes before prolonged cold and wet weather, dry lightly and store frost free. This overwintering step is the main difference between a one season result and repeat success.
