Camassia leichtlinii Semiplena

Camassia leichtlinii Semiplena

A rare double-flowering Camassia with creamy-white spires that is ideal for moist meadows, parklands, and naturalised planting schemes.

Description

Camassia leichtlinii ‘Semiplena’ offers a refined twist on the classic Camassia, with its fully double, soft white blooms adding texture and distinction to early summer displays. Reaching 90–120 cm tall, it produces upright flower spikes that bloom sequentially from the base, extending visual interest and supporting pollinators over several weeks.

Exceptionally suited to Irish growing conditions, it thrives in heavier soils and areas with seasonal moisture, such as damp meadows, open woodland margins, or the edges of wildlife ponds. The double flowers give it added weight in formal designs while still fitting naturally into looser prairie or meadow-style plantings.

It pairs well with bold structural perennials, airy grasses, or the contrast of blue Camassia leichtlinii Caerule’. Once planted, it requires little maintenance and will slowly multiply over time.
