Description
Camassia leichtlinii Caerulea is a showy and long-lived bulb with dramatic blue flower spikes reaching up to 1.2m tall. Blooming from late May into early June, it provides a seamless bridge between spring bulbs and summer perennials. The densely packed star-shaped flowers open gradually from the base upward, prolonging the display and making it an excellent choice for pollinators.
This cultivar thrives in the damp soils often found in Irish meadows, paddock edges, and garden borders. It tolerates full sun or partial shade, and performs particularly well when left undisturbed in perennial-rich planting schemes. For colour harmony and layered interest, pair it with Allium Purple Sensation or Iris siberica.
Like all Camassias, it benefits from moisture-retentive soil during active growth and drier conditions in summer dormancy.
