Allium schubertii

Allium schubertii

Large Flowering

Description

A special large allium variety. Schubertii is also called the “fireworks” allium due to the somewhat “explosive” appearance. The plant bears spiky heads of flowers of varying lengths giving it a wild look. Individual floerts are purple with green centres. The umbels can be more than 30-35cm in diameter. After flowering, the faded umbels remain decorative in the garden for a long time. Plant Schubertii in well drained soil in a sunny spot in your borders or in containers. Use to make unusual statements in cut flowers or centrepiece arrangements. This allium attracts butterflies and bees during flowering.
