Description
Allium roseum, also known as the Rosy Garlic, brings a delicate charm to planting schemes with its soft pink umbels and graceful, slender stems. Blooming from late spring into early summer, each flowerhead features star-shaped, rose-pink florets with a soft sheen, creating a light and airy texture that pairs beautifully with ornamental grasses, perennials, and other alliums.
This Mediterranean native is highly adaptable and thrives in well-drained soils with full sun to light shade, making it ideal for both formal beds and naturalistic plantings. It performs particularly well in gravel gardens, meadow borders, and among paving or low-maintenance schemes where soft movement and pollinator interest are desired. With a mature height of 30–50 cm, it fits well into mid-border positions or mass planted in open spaces.
Allium roseum is also drought tolerant once established, requires little intervention, and reliably returns each year. It naturalises gradually without becoming invasive. Its nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for bees and hoverflies, providing crucial early food sources. Customers will appreciate its versatility in mixed border designs, public planting, and ecological restoration efforts.
