Description
Lilium Hulk is supplied in a larger bulb size to promote confident growth and consistent flowering, making it a good premium prepack line for garden centres. Lilies add structure and a clean architectural look in mixed borders, and they are also highly valued for cutting.
Plant in a sunny or lightly shaded position, sheltered from strong wind. Soil should be fertile and free draining. In heavier soils, improve drainage with compost and grit, or advise container planting for best reliability. Plant bulbs at a suitable depth and water in. Maintain even moisture during growth, especially around bud formation.
Mulch helps keep the root zone cool and reduces stress in dry spells. Remove faded flowers to keep the plant tidy, and let foliage die back naturally. With good drainage, lilies can overwinter in the ground in many Irish gardens, but persistent winter wet should be avoided.
