Description
Dahlia Sylvia is chosen for clean ball form and a warm, energetic colour. The blooms are tightly rounded and present in vivid tangerine through to warm orange shades. This gives late season brightness that reads well across larger planting areas. Ball dahlias hold their shape well, making this variety useful for professional schemes where weather resilience and tidy presentation matter. Dahlia Sylvia performs strongly in sunny borders and large containers and provides excellent cut stems for bright bouquets. Regular deadheading keeps flowers coming well into autumn. The warm colour pairs well with bronzes, deep reds, creams and ornamental grasses, and it can be used as a bridging colour between yellows and richer autumn tones. Ball dahlias are not biodiverse so you can improve overall biodiversity value by planting single dahlias, echinacea, verbena , nepeta, oregano, borage or phacelia nearby. Plant after frost risk has passed in full sun and free draining soil improved with compost. Keep moisture steady, feed from bud stage, deadhead regularly, and lift tubers after the first frosts.
