Garden Club Talks and Demos

Flower Bulb Talks and Demonstrations for Clubs and Community Groups

Are you looking for an interesting, informative, and practical speaker for your gardening club, horticultural society, community group, Tidy Towns committee, Men’s Shed, Women’s Institute, school, or local organisation?

At Beechill Bulbs, we offer free presentations, practical demonstrations, and educational talks to groups throughout the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Our talks are designed to be informative, interactive, and enjoyable, whether your members are experienced gardeners or simply interested in creating better spring garden displays.

No Speaker Fee

Many guest speakers charge a fee for attending clubs and community groups. We believe in sharing our knowledge and experience, so our presentations are provided free of charge.

Where appropriate, attendees also have the opportunity to purchase a selection of our flower bulbs following the presentation, allowing them to put their new knowledge into practice straight away.

When We Are Available

Our presentations are normally held on weekday evenings, Monday to Friday, making them ideal for clubs that meet after work. We can travel throughout Ireland and, where our schedule allows, we are also happy to accommodate occasional weekend events.

The Best Time to Book

The ideal period for our talks is from early September through to the end of November, when autumn bulb planting is taking place across Ireland. This allows attendees to apply what they have learned immediately, giving bulbs the best opportunity to establish before winter and produce outstanding spring displays.

Autumn is naturally our busiest period, so early booking is recommended to secure your preferred date.

What We Can Cover

Every group has different interests, so each presentation can be tailored to suit your audience. Popular topics include:

  • How flower bulbs are bred and developed
  • From field to garden: the journey of a flower bulb
  • Bulb grading and quality control
  • Choosing the right bulbs for different planting schemes
  • Best planting practices for long lasting displays
  • Layering bulbs to create months of continuous colour
  • Live planting demonstrations for borders, containers, and naturalised areas
  • Identifying common bulb diseases and preventing problems
  • Caring for bulbs after flowering
  • Designing colourful displays for parks, schools, churches, hotels, estates, and community spaces
  • Biodiversity friendly planting that supports bees and other early pollinators
  • Inspiration from some of Europe’s finest exhibition gardens and public bulb displays

Our presentations combine practical advice, photographs, demonstrations, and years of hands on experience, providing ideas that members can confidently use in their own gardens and community projects.

Practical Demonstrations

Where facilities allow, we include live demonstrations covering planting depth, spacing, layering techniques, and methods for achieving reliable, professional looking displays. These practical sessions are especially popular with gardening clubs, Tidy Towns groups, schools, and community organisations preparing for autumn planting projects.
