We were privileged to host 50 customers in the Netherlands on the 10th of April past. This was the first trip since 2019, and we were delighted to run it again. It was a wonderful opportunity to get a behind the scenes view of the Bloemencorso (The Flower Parade). The preparations for this huge community event are being hosted for the first time this year, in the warehouses of JAC Uittenbogaard, and our trip coincided with the final day of prep before the parade itself. It was a wonderful experience – the line up of shiny New Holland tractors caught more than a few eyes of the Irish contingent.
After a walk around the warehouses admiring the local community groups working away at the various floats, we were brought into the JUB “auditorium”, where we were given a presentation by the president of the Bloemencorso committee.
Following this, we made our way to the Keukenhof gardens – the main event! This was spectacular. It is always a worthwhile trip, and usually we make the trip about 2 weeks later (last week off April). This year, however, given the weather leading up to it, we arrived at just the right time. There was a full bloom of hyacinths, tulips, narcissus, fritillaria – even some alliums.
The weather – while cool – was dry and sunny, and everybody got to enjoy the sights. It was a very enjoyable trip all round, hopefully we’ll get to go again next spring – watch this space.
