Description
Fringed Tulip Bendigo is a compact red tulip for Irish trade planting where a strong spring colour needs sharper flower detail than a smooth-petalled variety. Its role is direct: bright red impact, a neat medium height and the decorative cut edge that gives fringed tulips their close-view value. The flowers are red, flowering in April at 20-30 cm, with finely cut or crystalline petal margins associated with the Fringed Group.
Tulip Bendigo is useful where red needs to be visible but not overly tall. It suits civic beds, hotel entrance planters, estate border fronts, public garden displays, courtyard containers, school grounds, commercial frontages and formal seasonal planting. The compact habit helps it sit well in containers and front-to-mid border positions, while the fringed petals keep the flower from looking too plain.
Bendigo combines well with white narcissus, blue muscari, cream tulips, dark purple tulips, yellow tulips, red tulips and later alliums. In grouped planting, it can create a strong red feature with more texture than a standard Triumph tulip. In mixed schemes, it is best repeated in clear groups so the fringed flower edge reads as a deliberate design feature rather than an isolated novelty.
