Description
Canna Shining Orange lights up planting schemes with bold, glowing orange blooms, a true heat-colour that thrives in Irish summers more than people expect. Flowers stand above broad green foliage, holding colour well even on dull days — ideal for tropical gardens, festival schemes, seafront plantings, urban beds, hotel entrances and large planters. A strong performer from mid-summer through autumn with consistent blooming when well-fed. Flowers offer modest nectar value, especially to hoverflies and garden butterflies. Combine with biodiversity staples such as Salvia, and single dahlias to balance the ecology. Plant in full sun, moisture-retentive soil and feed often — cannas respond with vigorous growth and bigger flower heads. In colder gardens, lift rhizomes for winter storage; in mild/coastal areas they overwinter with mulch.
