Granard Garden Club

It was great to be back in Granard Garden Club on Monday 24th February for a talk on Summer Bulbs and Dahlia Propogation. 

The venue – Lus Na Greine FRC – was excellent, no complaints about the cold! (Quite the opposite in fact). 

As part of the talk, we divided a rather substantial dahlia tuber (Café au Lait Twist), then planted it in a deep pot with a paeonia Sarah Bernhardt, and topped it off with some lilium Regale. 

Then for a second act (or prize), we potted up a large specimen of Agapanthus Blue Giant, with some Crocosmia Lucifer.

Finally, for some edible fun, we potted up 5 strawberry plants in a 2 liter pot (yes that was alot for a 2 liter!). All planted to the edge of the pot and angled out. With regular thinning of foliage and pinching out of small flowers, this pot should yield a nice crop of strawberries.
