Description

Dichelostemma ida-maia, or firecracker flower, has up to 10 flowers per cluster of red tubular flowers with yellow and green outward turning tips and narrow stems with upright, grassy leaves that die back as it blooms. This plant makes a wonderful contrast plant, adding highlights through ornamental grasses and shrubs. This plant does best in full sun and can tolerate poor soil in borders, along the coast, meadows, grasslands, rock or gravel gardens or pots and containers.
