Narcissus Belcanto

Narcissus Belcanto

A refined trumpet daffodil with creamy-yellow tones. Excellent for naturalising and early pollinator planting across Irish gardens.

Description

Narcissus Belcanto is a serene and understated trumpet daffodil offering a soft, harmonious blend of creamy-yellow tones, perfect for early spring colour in both modern and traditional garden styles. Each flower boasts broad, rounded petals in pale lemon, framing a graceful trumpet that matures to a buttery hue. Flowering in March into early April, this variety reaches a height of 35–45 cm, making it well suited to mid-border plantings, grassy verges, and early spring bulb meadows.

It establishes reliably in full sun or semi-shaded situations, coping well with standard Irish topsoils, provided they drain freely. Its size and uniformity make it ideal for mechanical planting making it a cost-effective and low-labour choice for large-scale use. Its accessible trumpet provides a useful early food source for bumblebees, supporting biodiversity in formal and informal planting schemes alike and is an excellent option for low-maintenance schemes focused on seasonal rhythm and ecological value.

Belcanto pairs well with Hyacinth City of Haarlem, Muscari Ocean Magic, or Tulip Sweetheart, for soft tonal harmonies. It also works well with Anemone blanda White Splendour in woodland-marginal planting zones.
