Narcissus Papillon Blanc

Narcissus Papillon Blanc

Split-corona daffodil with white petals and creamy-yellow rosette-like centre. Mid-spring flowering with pollinator access.

Description

Narcissus Papillon Blanc is a sophisticated and highly ornamental split-corona daffodil, prized for its sculptural form and subtle elegance. Each mid-spring bloom opens into a striking display of broad, white reflexed petals surrounding a flattened, creamy-yellow corona that unfurls into rosette-like segments — giving the flower a ruffled, almost camellia-like silhouette. Standing 35–45 cm tall, it brings luminous structure and soft movement to curated spring schemes, especially in settings where refined design and botanical detail are valued.

Papillon Blanc is unscented, but its large open face is accessible to hoverflies and short-tongued solitary bees, particularly in mild weather windows. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and requires free-draining, moderately fertile soil. It performs best in loamy or sandy substrates with some organic content. It’s particularly well-suited to woodland edges, reflective memorial gardens, institutional planters, and courtyard borders, especially where a white planting theme or visual calm is desired.

Its subdued colour palette and unusual form pair beautifully with Muscari armeniacum, Scilla siberica, Hyacinth ‘White Pearl’, or Anemone blanda ‘White Splendour’. Papillon Blanc also makes an excellent candidate for high-end hospitality beds, civic meditation spaces, or contemporary gravel planting schemes where texture and biodiversity overlap without visual excess.
