Description
Narcissus Cheerfulness is a heritage double daffodil known for its romantic form and complex floral fragrance. Each stem bears multiple creamy-white double blooms, often with subtle pale lemon or greenish tints. The layered petals give a soft, rose-like appearance that adds vintage elegance to spring garden displays and bouquets.
Flowering mid-to-late spring at around 35–40 cm tall, ‘Cheerfulness’ excels in sheltered beds, walled gardens, or along sunny borders where its perfume can be appreciated up close. It is an ideal choice for containers near doorways, small-scale landscape planting, and cut flower gardens. In Irish climates, it performs best in well-drained fertile soils and benefits from a sunny position to maximise bloom count.
This cultivar makes a classic pairing with tulips like Pink Star or Menton, or can be softened further with Anemone blanda, pale Hyacinths, or white Muscari. Cheerfulness is especially valuable for heritage-style garden restoration, romantic planting themes, and floristry-oriented schemes due to its lasting blooms and layered form.
An essential daffodil for designers seeking both scent and structure.
