Description
Tulip Brisbane is a richly coloured, early-flowering double tulip with compact, peony-style blooms in tones of coral-orange, apricot, and rose-pink. The outer petals are often finely edged in golden yellow, adding extra glow and definition. Reaching 30–35 cm tall, it flowers from late March into early April, making it one of the first tulips to bloom with layered impact and exceptional vibrancy.
It thrives in full sun in fertile, free-draining soil or peat-free compost. Brisbane is ideal for urban containers, commercial displays, courtyard gardens, or as a punchy front-of-border anchor. Its short stature makes it perfect for windy sites, planters, or formal geometries where mass effect and colour saturation are desired early in the season.
Pair with dwarf daffodils like Narcissus Tête-à-Tête, or blue Muscari, to create compact, contrasting schemes. It also integrates well with evergreen groundcovers and seasonal bedding in high-traffic retail, hospitality, or event settings.
Although not heavily scented, the semi-open double form allows occasional access to hoverflies and early bees, particularly when interplanted with spring nectar plants.
Tulip Brisbane is low-maintenance and reliably perennial under dry, well-drained conditions. It excels in display beds, municipal containers, and colour-controlled entry plantings where early visual impact is key.
