Description
Tulip Negrita Parrot is a strong choice for planting where the display needs depth rather than brightness. Its dark purple colouring gives it a more formal and atmospheric role than orange, apricot or red-and-white Parrot tulips, making it useful for schemes that need contrast, weight and a premium finish. The flowers are dark purple, frilled and expressive, opening into the curled and feathered form associated with the Parrot group.
Negrita Parrot is particularly effective in close-view positions where its dark colour and petal texture can be appreciated. Use it in hotel entrances, estate borders, courtyard planters, public garden beds, civic containers, business frontages, wedding venue displays and premium commercial landscapes. It is especially useful where a planting scheme needs a darker anchor colour beside cream, white, pink or silver-toned planting.
Negrita Parrot combines well with white narcissus, cream tulips, pale pink tulips, blue muscari, late alliums, silver foliage and lighter Parrot tulips. It can also be paired with Apricot Parrot for a warm-cool contrast, Cabanna for a softer romantic scheme, or Parrot King where a stronger colour clash is required.
As with other Parrot tulips, Negrita Parrot is better suited to sheltered beds, planters and cared-for borders than exposed roadside or open verge planting, because the large ruffled flowers are more vulnerable to wind and heavy rain.
