Description
Narcissus Red Devon is supplied for trade customers requiring larger quantities for landscape schemes, estate planting, public gardens, roadside displays, parks and commercial horticultural projects. Planted in autumn, Narcissus Red Devon produces large-cupped daffodil flowers in spring, with light yellow to lemon-yellow outer petals and a bold orange-red central cup. The cup is usually frilled at the rim, adding extra texture and detail to the flower.
The strong colour contrast makes Narcissus Red Devon especially useful where a warmer, more eye-catching daffodil display is required. The yellow petals give the flower a classic spring character, while the orange-red cup adds depth and visual impact. This makes it suitable for entrance beds, public gardens, estate borders, parks, roadside verges, large containers and mixed spring bulb schemes.
As a large-cupped narcissus, Red Devon has one flower per stem, with the cup shorter than a full trumpet but large enough to create a bold daffodil form. It is well suited to group planting, informal drifts, open beds and naturalising-style schemes. It can also be combined with yellow narcissus, white narcissus, red or orange tulips, muscari and later spring bulbs to extend the season and add contrast in colour and flower shape.
For best results, plant in autumn in free-draining soil in full sun or partial shade, allowing sufficient depth and spacing for strong root establishment before winter. Narcissus are generally robust, low-maintenance bulbs and are widely used in Irish planting schemes because they tolerate typical spring conditions and return well when planted in suitable sites. The trade bag format is ideal for landscapers, contractors, local authorities, estates and professional gardeners managing larger planting areas.
