Iris hollandica Red Ember

Iris hollandica Red Ember

Sultry maroon-red petals with amber signals. Ideal for bold, warm-toned schemes.

Description

Red Ember offers an unusual and dramatic twist on the classic Dutch Iris with its smoky maroon-red petals and warm amber markings. This variety brings warmth and intensity to planting plans, particularly where designers are seeking a modern, moody aesthetic. It stands at around 55–60cm and flowers in May, just as tulips fade and summer perennials begin.

Its rich tones work beautifully alongside Tulip Queen of Night, or bronze-foliage grasses. Perfect for borders, gravel gardens, or city landscapes, this iris can also be used in floral arrangements due to its strong stems. While not a top pollinator choice, integrating it with nectar-rich Allium moly improves wildlife value.
