Description
Chionodoxa sardensis is a very useful early blue spring bulb for creating carpets of colour in lawns, woodland margins and lighter naturalistic schemes. Its intense blue flowers appear close to the ground and help deliver strong visual impact at a time when many other plants have barely emerged. It is particularly effective in estate planting, orchard grass and public landscapes where smaller bulbs are used in generous drifts to create a broad early season effect. The flowers are also beneficial to pollinators and fit well into biodiversity led planting plans. In Irish gardens and landscape work it is best planted where it can remain undisturbed and gradually form wider colonies over time.
