Chionodoxa Blue Giant

Chionodoxa Blue Giant

Brilliant blue spring blooms with a white eye. Early-flowering and ideal for naturalising in lawns, borders, and alpine schemes. Hardy and pollinator-friendly.

Description

Chionodoxa Blue Giant is an early spring bulb valued for its bright blue star shaped flowers and its ability to naturalise readily in grass and light shade. It is particularly useful for creating low carpets of colour beneath deciduous trees, along path edges and through orchard or parkland planting where a natural spring effect is wanted. The flowers appear early in the season and provide useful nectar and pollen for emerging pollinators, adding ecological value as well as ornamental appeal. In Irish planting schemes it is very effective in lawns, rough grass margins and front of border positions where smaller bulbs can create a broad sweep of early colour without appearing overly formal. It is especially suitable for large plantings in estates, public gardens and landscape projects where reliable spring coverage is required.
