Switch grass,Panicum ‘Heavy Metal’ gets its name from the blue-grey color of the foliage which is topped with pink-green flowers in early autumn and then morphs into a golden-yellow colour in late autumn. It is a slow-growing grass, reaching a height of about 150 cm. And comes into its own in groups in borders. In spring, the plant can be cut off at 10 cm above the ground. Lush mounds of Panicum Heavy Metals grow easily in hummus-rich soil in gardens, borders, beds and even prairie plantings and along the ocean. Often used to stabilize eroding slopes.
