Description

Lupinus Red is a short-lived, yet hardy, herbacious perennial growing well in beds, borders, cottage gardens, coastal and as a cut flower. They bloom June – July prefering fairly cool and dry conditions. The fresh green leaf of the lupine is palmately composed and stays under the flowers. The spiky flowers are in long racemes around the stems with the plants growing 90-100 cm. The distinctive palmate leaves are attractive in the garden, even when the flowers are not in bloom. Dig a spacious planting hole and loosen the soil well. Improve the garden soil by mixing in some garden peat. Place the roots of the Lupinus at the correct height in the planting hole. The top of the root ball should be just below soil level. Fill the planting hole with soil and press firmly. Water immediately after planting. Lupinus grows well in full sun or partial shade. Provide well-draining, sandy soil. You do not need to lift this bulb to winterize.
