Asparagus Backlim is a hardy, all-male, mid-late cropping variety perennial that produces tasty white to green spears with purple tips and high yields. Grow in sheltered full sun beds of rich, fertile, well-drained, moist soil. Asparagus is a long-term crop. Do not harvest during first season but allow plants to grow foliage, season two harvest minimally and by year three, you are fully established and able to harvest all yields. If maintained, asparagus should provide up to 20 years of produce. In autumn, cut back any yellowing foliage and mulch the crowns with the rotten manure to protect from frost. Asparagus beds need to be kept weed free.
